Book #66 Cooking For Mr. Latte by Amanda Hesser

Oh, I loved this one and could kick myself for not having read it sooner (seeing as I’ve owned it for years now). I love the story of her courtship with her husband based entirely around food with recipes followed by explanations of, “This is just an excuse to eat mayonnaise.”

You know, I wrote to Ms. Hesser once to ask why the post-dinner latte was such a damn crime. She said that it’s inadvisable to have such a milk-heavy drink and one should go for more coffee acidity with an espresso or cappuccino at least, rather than filling yourself up even more.

Made sense to me, and I was glad she wasn’t just being a snob in some way.

I found this one pretty charming, too, even though I was expecting it to be insufferable; I can’t believe it hasn’t been made into a movie or tv series or something yet.
